报告摘要:Vibrating plasmonic nanoparticles generate two types of acoustic waves. One is the localized acoustic vibrations of the metal nanoparticle itself. The other is propagating picosecond acoustic waves in the surrounding medium. In this talk, we will discuss these two types of acoustic waves generated from single plasmonic resonators. The high frequency acoustic vibrations inherent to these plasmonic resonators enabled us to study the solvent dynamics. We’ve discovered the outgoing picosecond acoustic waves damp the mechanical vibrations of plasmonic resonators. Blocking the phonon decay pathway, we improved the vibrational quality factors of metallic resonators by an order of magnitude which enabled us to observe strong vibrational coupling in purely plasmonic nanoresonators. Our results provided a new platform for future observation and control of the quantum behavior of phonon modes in metallic nanoparticles.

 

报告人简介:汪国平,深圳大学特聘教授,深圳大学微纳光电子学研究院执行院长。获国家自然科学奖二等奖,湖北省自然科学奖一等奖,教育部首届全国高校优秀骨干教师奖等多项奖励,享受国务院特殊津贴。曾任武汉大学二级教授、珞珈学者特聘教授。主持国家杰出青年基金、国家重大科学研究计划项目课题、国家自然科学基金重点项目等20余项,发表包括Phys. Rev. Lett.Nature Commun.Light Sci. Appl.Phys. Rev. Appl.Appl. Phys. Lett.Opt. Lett.Nano Lett.等论文120余篇,合著英文专著《Plasmonic Nanoguides and Circuits》一部。目前研究领域涉及光学人工微结构材料、纳米光电子学、光学超分辨成像和微纳结构的超快动力学。
